Act II Blog Assignment

A few reminders concerning blogging:
-Make sure your group is posting under the correct blog. If I cannot find your entries, you will not receive points!
-Make sure you are PUBLISHING your blogs. (Click ‘Publish’ after you type it up).
-After you post, sign your nickname so you get credit!
- Cite your sources!
-Tell me if you have posted a comment so that I can check it out and give you points.
-You need to make two comments on other group’s blogs by the end of the unit, so it’s a good idea to get them out of the way early!

Your group needs to post three blog entries by Friday, March 25. (You can always post more if you want to). Please choose from the following prompts to complete this week’s assignment:

1. Find a song (school-appropriate, please) that relates to your topic. Post a sound clip and/or lyrics from the song and explain in two paragraphs (5-8 sentences in each paragraph) how this song is relevant to the progression of your topic in the play so far. You might consider the ways in which the song relates to certain characters associated with your topic or particular events from Acts I and II of the play. Please be specific and analytical in your explanations. A mere description of how your lyrics relate to your topic is not enough; you need to analyze the lyrics in relation to your topic and give power to your response by adding details from the play. Be sure to cite your sources!

2. Find a poem that relates to your topic and post it on your blog. (Be sure to cite the source of the poem). Explain in two paragraphs (5-8 sentences in each paragraph) how the poem relates to the progression of your topic in the play so far. Please be specific and analytical, including details from the play in your explanation. A mere description of how the poem relates to your topic is not enough; you need to analyze the poem in relation to your topic and give power to your response by adding details from the play.

3. Write three haikus about your topic, situating your poetry in the context of the play by using specific details—characters, symbols, events, and/or quotes. Remember: a haiku is a short poem that is composed of three lines, the first line having five syllables, the second line having seven syllables, and the third line having five syllables. Please be thoughtful with these haikus. Don’t just throw them together. I need to see evidence of some deep analysis of your topic!

4. Write a recipe for your topic, integrating specific details from the play—characters, events, symbols, and/or quotes. Look at sample recipes online and be sure to use recipe language in your post. Try phrases like, “Pre-heat oven”, “Fold in” or “Whisk until fluffy”. Come up with a clever title for your recipe, such as “Betrayal Brownies” or “Free Will Fruit Salad”. Be sure to list the ingredients for your recipe, as well as the procedure for mixing/preparing the ingredients. Be creative, and put some thought into this!
